Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla has signaled a shift in political plans, saying he is now inclined to run for Cavite governor instead of pursuing a presidential bid in 2028.
Remulla, who previously expressed readiness to seek the presidency, said he still has “unfinished business” in Cavite and prefers to focus on local governance.
He added that while he believes he is capable of addressing national issues, he feels his leadership style and approach may not yet match public expectations for the presidency.
The official earlier stated he was open to becoming the country’s next leader, but recent survey results showed him trailing behind other top contenders.
Remulla has yet to formally close the door on national politics but is now prioritizing a possible return to provincial leadership.
