A coalition of civil society groups has filed an ethics complaint against Sen. Pia Cayetano over an allegedly spliced and misleading video of House prosecutor Rep. Chel Diokno that was posted on her official social media account.
The complainants said the edited clip falsely suggested that Diokno admitted the House prosecutors had no evidence in the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
They argued that the post undermined the integrity of the impeachment proceedings and violated Cayetano’s oath as a senator-judge to remain impartial.
House prosecutors also expressed concern that the video could mislead the public and create the impression that the case had already been prejudged.
Cayetano has yet to state the complaint.
