The Department of Justice Action Center (DOJAC) held its Katarungan Caravan on February 12, 2026, at New Bilibid Prison, providing legal assistance to over 500 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The initiative, part of DOJ’s jail decongestion and access-to-justice program, offers case consultations, Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) reviews, referrals, and representation for inmates with stalled cases.
The activity involved support from the Public Attorney’s Office, Integrated Bar of the Philippines chapters, law students, and local government units to assist with documentation and case profiling.
Since 2024, the Katarungan Caravan has delivered free legal services to over 35,000 Filipinos nationwide, helping address pending motions, documentation gaps, and other legal concerns.
DOJ officials emphasized that access to justice extends beyond prison gates, highlighting the program’s role in humane enforcement of the law and broader jail decongestion efforts.
