COMELEC ASSURES RELIABLE BARMM RESULTS AFTER VCM TESTING

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has completed the final testing and sealing of vote-counting machines (VCMs) for 5,212 polling precincts ahead of BARMM’s first regular parliamentary elections on Sept. 14.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the tests ensured the machines are working properly and can accurately record, count and transmit votes.

The process also allowed officials to detect and replace defective machines before Election Day.

The polls will elect BARMM’s first regular Parliament, marking a major step in the region’s transition to an elected government.

Comelec said logistical and security preparations have also been completed for the historic elections.
