BARMM TO HOLD FIRST ELECTIONS ON SEPT. 14 AFTER FOUR DELAYS

After four postponements, the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will be held on Sept. 14.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the elections are crucial to the region’s development and reflect the shift of former secessionists from armed struggle to the political process.

Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, voters will elect 80 members of Parliament, including party, district, and sectoral representatives.

The election date was finalized after the Bangsamoro Transition Authority passed a districting law establishing 32 parliamentary districts, allowing the Commission on Elections to proceed with preparations.

Marcos assured voters that the government will work to ensure safe, peaceful, and credible elections while protecting their right to vote freely.
