Cainta, Rizal Mayor Keith Nieto announced Saturday that he will take medical leave to undergo a quadruple heart bypass after doctors found four blockages in his arteries.
Nieto said he experienced difficulty breathing, numbness in both hands, and weakness, prompting him to seek emergency medical attention.
He previously underwent heart surgery in January and another heart procedure in April due to arterial blockages.
Doctors advised him to remain hospitalized, but he was allowed to briefly return home to arrange his belongings and work before his scheduled operation.
Vice Mayor Ace Servillon will temporarily oversee the municipal government while Nieto is on medical leave.
