Cainta, Rizal Mayor Keith Nieto is offering a P300,000 reward from his personal funds after a pumping station in Barangay San Isidro was robbed amid preparations for Super Typhoon Uwan.
The robbers cut steel matting, stole copper, and severed wires, causing significant damage to the facility.
Nieto immediately ordered repairs and 24-hour security at all other pumping stations to prevent similar incidents.
In addition to addressing the robbery, the mayor has initiated preemptive evacuations in several barangays, with hundreds of residents already taking shelter in designated evacuation centers.
Officials continue to move families in high-risk areas near rivers to safer locations as the typhoon approaches.
