ALEX EALA STUNS WORLD NO. 2 RYBAKINA, REACHES BERLIN OPEN QUARTERFINALS

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala pulled off one of the biggest victories of her career after defeating world No. 2 Elena Rybakina, 7-5, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Berlin Open on Friday.

The 21-year-old wildcard rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the opening set before taking control of the match against the former Wimbledon champion.

Eala maintained her momentum in the second set with an early service break and held firm despite Rybakina firing 13 aces.

The victory sets up a quarterfinal showdown with sixth seed Elina Svitolina, who defeated Eva Lys in straight sets.

The win marks another milestone for Eala as she continues her impressive run on the WTA Tour.
