The South Korean-made K239 Chunmoo rocket artillery system is being considered as a potential option to strengthen the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) long-range strike capabilities under its modernization program.
Developed by Hanwha Aerospace, the system can fire different precision-guided missiles and engage stationary and moving targets.
The company also proposed establishing local maintenance facilities and transferring technology to support Filipino personnel.
The proposal comes as the Department of National Defense emphasizes the need for reliable ammunition supplies, local support, and long-term equipment maintenance.
The Philippines and South Korea have also agreed to strengthen defense industry cooperation and military equipment support.
