The Philippine Navy has launched its third offshore patrol vessel, the future BRP Rajah Humabon, in Ulsan, South Korea, as part of its modernization program.
Navy chief Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta and AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Rommel Roldan attended the ceremony on Oct. 13.
Built by South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the vessel is expected to boost maritime surveillance, security, and territorial defense.
Before the launch, Ezpeleta met with Republic of Korea Navy chief Admiral Kim Kyung-ryul to discuss naval cooperation and maritime defense partnerships.
The Navy said the new vessel will strengthen its fleet and help protect the country’s maritime interests and sovereignty.
