US Ambassador Lee Lipton clarified that no agreement on the proposed Pax Silica Economic Security Zone will be announced during the upcoming ASEAN Leaders’ Summit in Manila.
He said the initiative will be discussed further with the Philippine government before any decisions are made.
Lipton added that both countries aim to strengthen supply chains, attract investments and create jobs through the project.
Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez also said the agreement is unlikely to be finalized during US President Donald Trump’s visit.
The proposed 4,000-acre AI industrial hub in New Clark City, Tarlac, is part of the US-led Pax Silica Initiative.
