Heavy rains caused severe flooding in several parts of Davao City on Friday night, forcing residents to evacuate as rivers overflowed and inundated communities.
The flooding damaged homes and swept away several vehicles and motorcycles, including affecting the residence of former president Rodrigo Duterte in Barangay Bangkal.
The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ordered preemptive evacuations as water levels rose beyond critical levels.
The Philippine Coast Guard rescued at least 300 residents from Barangay Talomo Proper and brought them to a temporary evacuation center.
Authorities said floodwaters began to recede later that night, with no fatalities reported as of the latest update.
