The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that 256,040 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Metro Manila have received PHP5,000 each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program. Beneficiaries include tricycle drivers, service delivery riders, transport network vehicle service drivers, jeepney drivers, and motorcycle taxi riders, with a total of PHP1.28 billion disbursed so far. An additional 170,000 drivers not initially listed are being validated for inclusion in upcoming special payouts after Holy Week to ensure no driver is left behind. DSWD, LTFRB, local government units, and transport operators are coordinating to reconcile lists and verify supplemental beneficiaries across all vehicle types. Cash assistance for PUV drivers in the provinces will also roll out in parallel with Metro Manila payouts, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to support all affected drivers.
