Yasmine Vargas, wife of councilor Alfred Vargas, has filed 20 counts of cyber libel against individuals accused of spreading fake news and false social media posts targeting their family.
She said the legal action was taken to protect her children and followed failed attempts to resolve the issue amicably, adding that they have already submitted evidence to support their complaint.
Yasmine did not name the individuals involved but stressed that they chose to pursue legal remedies instead of engaging in online disputes, emphasizing the importance of standing against bullying.
She also urged the public to practice kindness online and avoid spreading rumors or hateful content, saying such behavior has no place in the community.
The complaint comes after the couple earlier filed a separate case involving the alleged bullying of their child during swimming training.
