Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. will meet his South Korean counterpart next week as Manila seeks to strengthen its defense and security partnership with the Republic of Korea.
Teodoro will attend the Seoul Defense Dialogue 2026 from Sept. 7 to 9, where he is scheduled to speak during a session on international stability.
He will also hold a bilateral meeting with South Korean National Defense Minister Ahn Gyuback to discuss areas of mutual interest and advance defense cooperation.
The Philippines and South Korea have maintained longstanding military ties dating back to the Korean War, when Filipino troops served alongside United Nations forces.
The DND said Teodoro’s participation highlights Manila’s commitment to stronger regional defense partnerships and a peaceful, secure, and stable Indo-Pacific.
