The Department of Justice (DOJ) is filing charges of qualified trafficking against former Bamban mayor Alice Guo, stemming from her alleged involvement in a POGO operation linked to illegal activities, including torture and forced labor.
DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Ty stated that evidence supports charges under the Expanded Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, which holds those involved in organizing trafficking operations accountable.
Guo, along with other key figures such as Huang Zhiyang and Dennis Cunanan, faces legal action despite attempts by her defense to delay proceedings.
Additionally, the DOJ is investigating claims that Guo attempted to bribe a trader to resolve her legal issues.
The case is being transferred from Capas, Tarlac to Valenzuela, and Guo’s legal team has been criticized for using delaying tactics that have impeded the case’s progress.
