The Philippine National Police (PNP) has pledged to intensify efforts against animal cruelty following a new partnership with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) to strengthen law enforcement and coordination.
The two agencies agreed to improve investigations, provide technical assistance, and train police officers in handling animal welfare cases.
PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III said police units have been directed to step up operations against organized animal cruelty, the illegal dog meat trade, and other violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
He added that stronger enforcement aims to ensure prompt investigations and hold offenders accountable.
The PNP also urged the public to report cases of animal abuse and neglect to the nearest police station or appropriate authorities.
