The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has maintained Alert Level 3 over Kanlaon Volcano following its May 13 eruption, warning that short-lived explosive eruptions remain possible.
Monitoring data show no significant increases in volcanic earthquakes, ground deformation, or sulfur dioxide emissions, indicating no major escalation in activity.
However, Phivolcs cautions that activity could still escalate to lava flows or lava fountaining if sudden changes occur.
Residents within the six-kilometer danger zone are strongly advised to remain evacuated due to the risks of pyroclastic flows, ashfall, and other volcanic hazards.
Local government units are also urged to prepare for possible evacuations if the volcanic unrest intensifies.
