MARCOS GREENLIGHTS FINANCIAL AID FOR QUAKE-DAMAGED LGUS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced P100 million in funding to repair the damaged General Santos City Hall and pledged additional assistance for other quake-hit areas during his visit, including P50,000 for families of fatalities.

The government is also allocating resources for infrastructure repair, relief operations, and restoration of basic services such as power, water, and communications, while engineers continue assessing damage to public buildings and schools.

Authorities reported ongoing disruptions in some roads and ports, prompting temporary rerouting of voyages and delivery of relief goods via alternative routes, while restoration efforts for utilities remain underway.

Vice President Sara Duterte also visited affected communities to extend aid and remind the public to prepare for future earthquakes amid continuing aftershocks, as lawmakers and agencies push additional funding and emergency loans to support recovery and rehabilitation.
