John Arcilla said portraying General Antonio Luna in the 2015 historical film Heneral Luna remains the most transformative role of his career, significantly boosting both his popularity and earning power.
Speaking at the Star Magic Spotlight press conference, Arcilla revealed that his talent fee increased tenfold after the film’s success and that producers voluntarily offered the higher rates.
He said the role also reshaped his public image, with fans of all ages now calling him “Heneral” and often asking him to reenact the character’s iconic fiery demeanor.
Arcilla believes audiences ultimately embraced the film’s deeper themes of patriotism, leadership, and national identity beyond its memorable dialogue.
Aside from acting, the veteran actor is returning to music and is currently working on an album of self-written songs under Star Music.
