Philippine flag bearer Albert Ian Delos Santos won the bronze medal in the men’s 70-kilogram weightlifting event at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The 20-year-old lifted 141 kilograms in the snatch and 183 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a total of 324 kilograms, setting new world junior and Asian junior records.
Delos Santos overtook Uzbekistan’s Adkhamjon Ergashev after successfully lifting 178, 181, and 183 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
His bronze marked the Philippines’ first men’s weightlifting medal at the Asian Games in 56 years, since Salvador Del Rosario won silver in 1970.
North Korea’s Ri Won Ju won gold with 349 kilograms, while Japan’s Masanori Miyamoto took silver with 342 kilograms.
