Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 opened its Asian Games campaign with back-to-back victories, defeating Mongolia, 17-12, before routing Macau-China, 21-4, in Pool C.
Quinn dela Rosa led the win over Mongolia with 10 points, while the Filipinas relied on strong passing and post play to overcome difficult windy conditions.
Maria Pasilang then scored eight points and Ka Kennan added seven in the dominant victory over Macau-China.
Gilas Women’s 3×3 will face Malaysia next as it seeks to complete a sweep of Pool C, while the 5×5 team advanced to the next round despite losing to Japan, 67-89.
Meanwhile, the Philippine men’s 3×3 team will face Kazakhstan with a group sweep and an outright quarterfinal berth at stake.
