Filipino padel player Joanna Tao Yee Tan is aiming for another podium finish at the Manila Open, the third leg of the Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT), this weekend at Padel Play Club in Mandaluyong City.
Tan, ranked second in the APPT, will compete alongside Mariam Yasmin Garsin in the professional women’s category, facing Anna Christine Patrimonio and Bambi Zoleta in the first round.
Tan has a successful track record, having won titles at the APPT in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in December 2024, and securing a silver medal at the inaugural Asia Pacific Padel Cup in Bali.
Zoleta, a former member of the Philippine soft tennis squad, is determined to improve her skills in padel, having reached the semifinals in Phuket and the quarterfinals in Hong Kong last year.
The Manila Open, featuring 100 teams from 25 countries, offers a USD 2,000 prize for the winners of the men’s and women’s pro categories, with the Batangas Open following shortly after.
