Sen. Panfilo Lacson questioned why several high-profile individuals facing non-bailable plunder charges have sought hospital detention, saying their medical conditions appeared to surface only after arrest warrants were issued.
He cited Sen. Rodante Marcoleta and former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan, who are both confined at the Philippine National Police General Hospital while facing separate plunder cases.
Lacson also raised concerns over the use of taxpayer-funded PNP hospital facilities for individuals who are not police personnel or their dependents.
He said he plans to ask the Philippine National Police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to clarify the policy during budget deliberations.
Lacson emphasized the need to ensure equal treatment under the law and proper use of government resources.
