Senator Erwin Tulfo has renewed his call for the creation of a separate pension fund dedicated to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), distinct from the Social Security System.
He emphasized that government programs for OFWs should go beyond legal and medical aid to include retirement protection.
Tulfo’s Senate Bill No. 252 proposes a monthly pension of P5,000 for eligible OFWs, particularly those in manual, skilled, or technical jobs.
During the “Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan,” he also visited a Filipino injured in Italy and urged the Department of Migrant Workers to provide sustained assistance for OFWs in need.
Tulfo plans to push for increased funding in the 2026 budget to support OFW protection programs and welfare services.
