Akbayan Partylist Representative Chel Diokno questioned the Department of Health’s recent inspection of Super Health Centers (SHCs), asking why it took so long to conduct these checks amid the controversy over non-operational facilities.
Around 300 SHCs under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program have been classified as “incomplete” and remain unused despite billions spent on the projects.
Diokno emphasized that inspections should have been done earlier as part of due diligence, especially given the large public funds involved.
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa recently conducted inspections and has been invited to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, investigating corruption in government projects.
Herbosa is also facing corruption charges related to P44.6 million worth of mental health drugs.
