The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has reallocated P50 million from its budget to improve facilities at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The funds, originally meant for new vehicles, will be used to install air conditioning units, provide water dispensers, and add more chairs to enhance waiting areas.
Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez emphasized that better facilities are more important than new vehicles, which can be purchased next year.
The reallocated funds are valid until the end of 2025, and Lopez urged both agencies to optimize their use.
The DOTr aims to improve public service delivery alongside upgrading its facilities, supported by its proposed 2026 budget increase to P197 billion.
