The provincial government of Dinagat Islands, in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), is distributing nearly 60,000 coconut seedlings to 586 farmers across seven towns as part of the Massive Coconut Planting and Replanting Program.
This week’s distribution follows last week’s release of over 20,000 seedlings to farmers in three towns.
Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. highlighted the support from government agencies like the Department of Agriculture and PCA in implementing the program.
Dinagat Islands has a total allocation of 400,000 seedlings worth P20 million to be distributed throughout the year.
The initiative aims to help coconut farmers recover from the damage caused by Super Typhoon Odette in 2021, which uprooted thousands of coconut trees in the province.
