The Makabayan bloc welcomed the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) commitment to issue guidelines preventing red-tagging, marking a protective measure for candidates in the upcoming elections. Comelec also decided not to require private supporters to register fan accounts, preserving freedom of expression for campaign supporters. Makabayan’s Liza Maza highlighted this as a step forward in reducing election-related harassment.
