The Atin Ito civil society coalition is set to carry out its fourth civilian-led mission to Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea, delivering food, fuel, and other supplies to residents while also conducting medical outreach and a community concert.
Akbayan Rep. Dadah Kiram Ismula will lead a “patriotic jetski flag ride” as part of the voyage, aiming to assert the Philippines’ sovereignty over the Kalayaan Island Group.
She said the mission is both personal and symbolic, as she hopes to witness island conditions firsthand and bring concerns to Congress.
The send-off ceremony featured prayers, solidarity messages, and chants affirming support for the West Philippine Sea, marking the start of the voyage aboard MV Kapitan Felix Oca.
The mission comes ahead of the ASEAN Summit, as maritime tensions in the area remain a key regional issue alongside ongoing multinational military exercises in the West Philippine Sea.
