ASEAN MINISTERS STRENGTHEN DISASTER COOPERATION THROUGH MANILA DECLARATION

ASEAN member states adopted the Manila Declaration, reaffirming their commitment to disaster resilience and implementing the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Programme 2026-2030.

Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. presided over the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Disaster Resilience meeting, where the declaration was signed.

The agreement aims to strengthen regional accountability, monitoring, knowledge-sharing, and disaster preparedness.

ASEAN ministers also discussed a shared vision of a resilient, innovative, sustainable, and empowered region beyond 2030.

ASEAN leaders are expected to note the declaration during the 49th ASEAN Summit in November.
