Two actors with Down syndrome, Earl Jonathan Amanda and Anne Krystel Daphne Go, take the lead roles in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry “I’mPerfect,” a romantic drama highlighting inclusion in Philippine cinema. Directed by Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo and produced by Nathan Studios, the film follows Jiro and Jessica as their chance encounter leads to a story of love, independence, and acceptance. Its viral teaser, featuring the line “When the world says they can’t… They’ll show us they can,” has sparked online praise for giving visibility to underrepresented communities. The project has been 15 years in the making and features an ensemble cast including Sylvia Sanchez, Janice de Belen, Lorna Tolentino, and others. “I’mPerfect” opens on December 25, alongside other MMFF entries such as “Rekonek,” “Call Me Mother,” and “Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins.”
