Congress has allocated ₱2.5 billion in the 2026 budget to strengthen cancer prevention, treatment, and patient care in the Philippines, House Minority Leader Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan said.
The funding includes ₱1.5 billion for the Cancer Assistance Fund (CAF) and ₱1 billion for the Cancer Control Program (CCP), which provide financial support, early detection, long-term care, and palliative services for patients.
Libanan emphasized that these programs ensure Filipinos can access timely cancer treatment regardless of their financial situation, with the CAF covering screening, diagnosis, and treatment, while the CCP focuses on prevention, medicines, and care for priority cancers such as breast, lung, and liver cancer.
Cancer remains the country’s second leading cause of death, claiming nearly 100 lives daily, highlighting the urgent need for government support to help patients and survivors.
These initiatives aim to provide earlier detection, faster treatment, and better care for those affected across the nation.
