The Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating a reported death threat against Cebu Governor Pamela “Pam” Baricuatro, who allegedly had a P2.5 million bounty placed on her life.
The plot reportedly involved a hired killer from Mindanao and was planned to occur outside Cebu.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered intelligence units to identify those behind the threat and stepped up security measures for the governor.
Additional tactical personnel have been deployed, and coordination with local authorities has been strengthened to ensure her safety.
Nartatez also said similar protections will be extended to other public officials facing harassment or threats while performing their duties.
