The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said the “Walang Gutom Program” (WGP) encourages self-sufficiency and limits aid to three years.
Beneficiaries are required to work and attend skills and livelihood training with support from the Department of Labor and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
The program allows flexibility, letting employable family members attend training instead of just the household head.
WGP provides families with P3,000 in monthly food credits, which can only be used for specific food items at partner stores.
DSWD plans to expand the program to cover 750,000 households by 2026.
