UNIFIED PWD ID SYSTEM TO BENEFIT PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES NATIONWIDE

The Unified Persons with Disabilities Identification System will expand nationwide this September after its 2025 pilot implementation.

The rollout will be carried out in phases over three years, with the next phase covering key provinces in Luzon and Visayas from September to October.

The DSWD supports the system, saying it will provide a more standardized and secure way to identify persons with disabilities, prevent fraud, and ensure benefits reach qualified beneficiaries.

Under the new system, the DSWD will centrally manage identification, while local government units will continue handling applications, approval, and distribution of physical IDs.

IDs for persons with permanent disabilities will be valid for life, while those with non-apparent disabilities will undergo revalidation every five years.
