SENATE URGED TO ADDRESS COMPLAINTS OVER HIGHER ELECTRICITY BILLS

Sen. Erwin Tulfo has filed a resolution seeking a Senate inquiry into the recent spike in electricity prices to protect consumers and ensure fair and reasonable power rates.

Tulfo said the investigation aims to examine rising electricity charges and strengthen consumer protection and complaint mechanisms.

He also questioned whether the government is doing enough to address poor utility services and rising power costs.

The senator vowed to push for measures that would make electricity more affordable for Filipinos.

The Department of Energy recently reported that the Philippines has the highest electricity rates in Southeast Asia at ₱12.43 per kilowatt-hour as of June 2026.
