Senator Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV will lead a Senate inquiry into the implementation of the P67-billion classroom construction program under the 2026 national budget.
The move follows his visit to two public schools in Rizal, where buildings were declared unsafe due to structural defects despite still being under warranty.
Aquino said the investigation will determine the status of the fund and hold accountable those responsible for substandard construction.
He also noted the urgent need for more classrooms, as the schools are operating on two shifts to accommodate over 13,000 students.
The hearing is scheduled for July 23 to assess the progress of the government’s classroom acceleration program.
