SENATE INQUIRY INTO ALICE GUO’S CASE TO MOVE FORWARD, TARLAC COURT RULES

A Tarlac court has granted permission for dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to attend a Senate hearing on illegal activities related to Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) after she previously skipped the inquiry and fled the country.

The Tarlac Regional Trial Court (RTC) issued an arrest warrant for Guo on two counts of graft on Thursday, coinciding with her arrest in Indonesia.

Following her return to Manila, Senator Risa Hontiveros, who is leading the Senate’s POGO investigation, requested Guo’s appearance at the hearing.

The RTC judge approved this request, acknowledging the importance of Guo’s testimony for the ongoing legislative inquiry.

The case against Guo originated from a complaint by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regarding her alleged involvement in an illegal POGO operation in Bamban.
