The transfer of convicted human trafficker Alice Guo to the Correctional Institution for Women has been delayed after she filed a motion to remain in Pasig City Jail, with a hearing set for November 26.
Guo, a former mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, was sentenced to life imprisonment for organizing human trafficking at a POGO compound in Tarlac.
While the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology confirmed she has not yet been transferred, authorities continue to oversee her detention.
Senators raised concerns about Cassandra Ong, another human trafficking suspect, who is now at large following her release from the Correctional Institution for Women, with authorities tracking her possible departure from the country.
Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, also named in the case, denied involvement and called the DOJ’s claims politically motivated and baseless.
