The Senate swiftly approved the Office of the President’s proposed P27.3 billion budget for 2026 in less than five minutes.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada moved for immediate approval, and no objections were raised.
Newly appointed Executive Secretary Ralph Recto attended the session when the budget was presented.
The approval came as part of the ongoing deliberations on the 2026 General Appropriations Bill, which contains a proposed P6.783 trillion budget.
Senate Finance Committee Chair Sherwin Gatchalian said they aim to pass a budget lower than the Palace-approved National Expenditure Program for next year.
