Vice President Sara Duterte revealed on Thursday that the political party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) has been persistently courting her to join for the 2028 elections, but she remains uninterested.
Duterte said PDP invites her to join their party almost every week, yet she prefers to stay independent after leaving Lakas to avoid “pretending” with other politicians.
She confirmed she will remain with Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), a regional party based in the Davao Region, where she and Samal City Mayor Al David Uy are currently the only members.
Duterte has not officially announced her plans for the 2028 elections, but previously shared that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, has given her the green light to run if she chooses to.
The VP’s political moves continue to attract attention as the 2028 elections approach.
