SANDIGAN COURT POSTPONES VERDICT ON ENRILE, REYES, AND NAPOLES CASE

The Sandiganbayan has deferred the promulgation of judgment on 15 graft charges against former senator and presidential legal counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, his former chief of staff Jessica Lucila Reyes, and detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, citing the need for further deliberation.

The court postponed the decision after a member of the Special Third Division submitted a reflection paper, with the new ruling date set for October 24.

Enrile and Napoles attended the hearing via video conference, while Reyes appeared in person.

The cases stem from allegations that Enrile received P172.83 million in kickbacks through Reyes from Napoles, linked to the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam during his 2004-2010 Senate term.

Although acquitted of plunder, the trio still faces graft charges filed in 2014, with Napoles remaining detained after her 2018 plunder conviction.
