Executive Secretary Ralph Recto convened a high-level interagency meeting on January 7 to ensure the Philippines is prepared to host this year’s ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
The discussion, led by Recto as chair of the ASEAN National Organizing Council, covered planning, logistics, procurement, and agency-specific work plans.
Key officials from the DPWH, DOT, DSWD, DICT, DBM, DMW, and other government agencies attended the meeting to coordinate preparations.
The Philippines will host the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit in Cebu on May 8–9 and the 49th ASEAN Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center on November 10–12, alongside numerous ministerial and working group meetings throughout the year.
Tight security measures will be enforced for all ASEAN-related events, and the country will also lead commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
