Former UAAP MVP and Gilas Pilipinas forward Kevin Quiambao capped a stellar 2025–2026 season in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) by winning the Rookie of the Year award with the Goyang Sono Skygunners.
The 24-year-old averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, shooting 42.3% from the field, 31.0% from three, and 88.7% from the free-throw line.
Quiambao helped Goyang reach its first-ever KBL playoff appearance, improving the team from a 19–35 record last season to a 28–26 finish.
He became the third consecutive Filipino to earn KBL Rookie of the Year honors, following RJ Abarrientos and JD Cagulangan, while fellow Gilas forward Carl Tamayo made the Mythical Five for the season.
Coming off a strong campaign in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Quiambao is now aiming to continue his championship success abroad.
