Filipino-American activist Chantal Anicoche has voluntarily chosen to remain under military custody at Camp Capinpin in Rizal to receive medical treatment, the Army said.
Anicoche executed an affidavit confirming her decision was made voluntarily and without coercion, witnessed by an independent lawyer from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
She was discovered on January 8 near a clash site between government troops and NPA rebels in Occidental Mindoro, having survived eight days without food or water.
The Army emphasized that her medical care is being prioritized after enduring physical and mental hardships.
Human rights and migrant groups, however, have called for her immediate release, citing concerns over her detention.
