The Quezon City government has launched the Manuel L. Quezon Filipino Language and Literature Scholarship Program to promote the study and preservation of the Filipino language.
The initiative, enacted under Ordinance No. SP-3458 supports college and postgraduate students, educators, and researchers in the Filipino language, literature, linguistics, and related fields.
Scholarships provide up to P160,000 per year for private school students, P50,000 for public school students, and up to P105,000 for postgraduate scholars with approved research proposals.
The program also offers grants of up to P40,000 for young and established writers producing original works in Filipino.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the scholarship strengthens cultural identity, encourages academic excellence, and ensures the Filipino language thrives in future generations.
