The Philippines and Quezon City received major honors at the 2025 Open Gov Challenge Awards held during the Open Government Partnership Global Summit in Spain.
Quezon City was named Regional Winner for Asia-Pacific and won the Thematic Award for Civic Space, while the Philippines won the Thematic Award for Open Contracting and an Honorable Mention for its efforts in public participation and accountability.
QC Mayor Joy Belmonte highlighted the awards as recognition of the city’s commitment to transparency and citizen engagement.
The awards, which attracted over 160 global submissions, celebrate reforms in areas like anti-corruption and digital governance.
The recognition affirms Quezon City’s leadership in open government innovation and inclusive policymaking.
