Malacañang said investigations into alleged multibillion-peso corruption in flood control will continue despite the closure of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro clarified that the ICI has completed its work and forwarded its findings to the Ombudsman for further investigation.
She emphasized that the ICI’s conclusion does not end the probe, as the Department of Justice and the Ombudsman can still pursue cases on their own initiative.
The ICI was created last year to investigate irregularities in flood control projects and will formally wind down by March 31.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police said it will continue assisting in tracking and prosecuting individuals involved in anomalous infrastructure projects.
