LTFRB TELLS TAXI DRIVERS TO STOP OVERCHARGING PASSENGERS

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) warned taxi drivers that overcharging, refusing passengers, and disrespectful behavior could lead to the suspension or cancellation of their franchises ahead of Undas.

Acting LTFRB chairman Greg Pua said the agency will deploy mystery riders, conduct surprise inspections at transport terminals, and monitor online complaints.

The agency expects around 1.9 million passengers to use major bus terminals and other transport hubs as people travel for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration will deploy additional personnel at international airports and limit staff vacation leaves to manage the expected influx of travelers.

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group also launched Oplan Kibits at Ninoy Aquino International Airport to protect passengers from theft, scams, illegal porterage, and other forms of abuse.
